COMPLEMENTARY METHODS FOR ULTIMATE TREATMENT

This focused course is designed to expand therapists knowledge and skills with a variety of therapeutic complementary methods that will enhance individual massage therapy sessions.

In this course, we will cover: Paraffin Wax Treatments, Cryo and Thermal therapies, Contrast Therapies, and OTC Topical Analgesics. Lecture and hands-on practice will equip therapists with the skills to conduct thorough assessments, apply ethical and safety precautions, and confidently provide targeted therapeutic treatments to enhance the client experience, deepen muscle relaxation, reduce pain and inflammation, promote better circulation, and increase range of motion, while remaining within the therapist’s scope of practice.

This course will equip therapists with the business acumen necessary to build trust with clients, increase confidence in making personalized recommendations for complimentary methods, and provide therapists with the ability to promote (via marketing) the expanded therapeutic value of massage therapy sessions that include complementary methods.

COURSE TUITION INCLUDES A TAKE-HOME KIT FOR USE DURING CLASS.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

(1) Identify and Describe the indications and contraindications for each of the covered complementary methods.
(2) Learn self, client, and equipment safety precautions to apply effective and safe treatments.
(3) Gain a more comprehensive understanding of the physiological effects of cryo and thermal therapies.
(4) Learn proper set-up for each method in a dry room setting.
(5) Learn practical application of thermal and cryo-therapies including: application of paraffin wax, hot packs (moist and dry), ice, and contrast therapy.
(6) Learn how to safely and effectively utilize topical analgesics before, during or after treatment.
(7) Understand basic marketing principles to promote complementary methods for treatment(s).
